Return to Work Policy
D & C Building Careers Pty Ltd recognises and accepts its obligation to assist workers to stay at work or return to work if injured or ill because of their work. Specifically the return to work policy is that;
-
All the actions to assist workers to stay at or return to work are commenced as soon as possible in a manner
consistent with medical advice.
-
Any worker injured or made ill because of their work is returned to work in the shortest possible time, provided it is
safe and practicable to do so, or if this is not possible
-
The worker will be returned to suitable alternative work, which does not jeopardize their being.
All our workers are expected to assist and cooperate in ensuring the policy is followed.
Our commitment to this policy means;
-
Return to work will commence as soon as possible after illness or injury. A return to work plan will be established for
any worker who is unable to work for 20 or more days. This plan will be established as soon as it is indicated that an
absence of 20 or more days is likely.
-
There must be early reporting and early intervention at the workplace to enable a worker to stay at work, if
appropriate.
-
That remaining at or returning to work as soon as safely possible after injury is a normal workplace practice and
expectation.
- Suitable duties, which do not jeopardize the well being of the worker, will be provided, where possible, as part of the
return to work program.
- There will be full involvement of workers in their own return.
-
The confidentiality of workers' information during return to work and any occupational rehabilitation will be maintained.
-
Participation in a return to work programme will not, in itself, prejudice any worker.
-
Return to work activities will be reviewed regularly in consultation with the worker to ensure that progress is
continuing towards a complete recovery.
Return to Work Coordinator
Within D & C Building Careers Pty Ltd the Occupational Health & Safety Co-ordinator is the person responsible for ensuring that the rehabilitation programme is implemented and for ensuring return to work under this programme is implemented.
Providers of Occupational Rehabilitation Services
D & C Building Careers Pty Ltd outsources the return to work programme to Re-focus Employment Services. They will assist in the return to work of a worker following injury where occupational rehabilitation services are reasonably necessary.
Preparation of a Return to Work Plan
Any worker who sustains a work related injury or illness must notify their supervisor as soon as is practicable following injury or the onset of illness. On receiving notification of any injury or illness, the return to work coordinator will;
- Contact the worker as soon as possible
- Ensure that the worker has access to appropriate treatment
- Obtain details of the extent of any capacity for work
Where a worker has an incapacity for work that is expected to involve 20 or more days away from the workplace a return to work plan should be prepared as soon as possible. That plan will be developed by the Return to Work Coordinator and the injured worker, and will be discussed with the workers' treating doctor wherever possible. The return to work plan and workers' progress will be reviewed regularly by the return to work coordinator and the worker.
Our commitment
D & C Building Careers Pty Ltd is committed to the Return to Work Policy and this policy has the full support and commitment of management.
